One of the most spectacular and talked-about events in the fashion world—the annual Met Gala—was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Traditionally taking place on the first Monday of May, the gala brings together stars from across the Western entertainment industry under one roof.

In essence, the Met Gala is a fundraising event with a history spanning more than 70 years and holds great significance in the fashion industry. Its primary goal is to raise funds for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year, the organizers successfully raised a record-breaking $31 million.

The Met Gala red carpet is so iconic that it often draws as much attention as the Oscars or the Grammys. Most guests arrive in New York several days early to prepare for the fashion event of the year. Celebrities traditionally appear in custom-made outfits tailored to fit the year’s theme, each striving to stand out with bold and imaginative looks, aiming to capture the spotlight. As a result, the most striking looks are discussed for days across social media, entertainment, and fashion platforms.

The event is headed and fully coordinated by the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour.

This year’s co-chairs included actor Colman Domingo, rapper A$AP Rocky, musician Pharrell Williams, and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. Honorary co-chair LeBron James was unable to attend due to a knee injury.

The theme for Met Gala 2025, titled Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, was dedicated to the style of Black men, the fashion culture they have shaped, and the history of dandyism. The dress code, “Tailored for You”, reflected this theme. In essence, the event aimed to highlight how the unique identity and cultural expression of the Black community have influenced fashion throughout history. Naturally, many of the guests’ looks incorporated elements and stylistic choices inspired by traditional Black menswear.

Celebrities and their designers spared no effort to honor the legacy and aesthetics of Black fashion traditions.

Top fashion publications gave special attention to the looks of Kim Kardashian, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman, Zendaya Coleman, Bad Bunny, and Rihanna. The latter used the red carpet appearance to announce her third pregnancy.

Nicole Kidman brought old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet in an elegant black Balenciaga gown.

Rihanna, one of the event’s brightest stars, wore a striking Marc Jacobs ensemble that emphasized her elevated status in the fashion world.

A$AP Rocky fully embraced the evening’s dress code, adding flair to his outfit with a black umbrella shaped like a rifle. The rapper wore an outfit entirely of his own design.

Singer Tyla appeared in a Jacquemus dress, focusing on understated femininity.

Actor Ncuti Gatwa embodied classic male elegance in a deep purple suit by Ozwald Boateng.

Zendaya Coleman played it safe with a snow-white Louis Vuitton suit and matching hat.

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian, always one of the most anticipated guests, chose a daring Chrome Hearts gown with a dramatically open back.

Known for his extravagant style, rapper Bad Bunny opted for Prada, completing his look with a boldly designed hat and a large leather bag.

Actress Hunter Schafer showed that a minimalist look can be just as impressive as an extravagant one, wearing a sleek black-and-white Prada suit.

One of the most daring guests of the night was actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter, who made headlines by appearing without pants. She wore a burgundy bodysuit by Louis Vuitton paired with high heels.
